On Screen

I see the irony between me and the girl on the screen,

It’s funny how we exist simultaneously.

Living two lives in two faces,

Does she know who she is?

Fed up by words that you don’t hear in real life,

Liked by people who go against your back.

Still, I long for the praise and acceptance,

Why is everyone better on screen?

Hidden behind this pretentious wall,

I sometimes feel like it’s real.

We gain what we thought we needed,

While we lose a part of us every day.

I lie in bed awake – her portrait is in my hand,

It’s funny how we exist simultaneously.

I live two lives and have two faces,

Do I know who I am?

No matter how pleasing the facade is,

Its downfall will come.

But don’t fret, for you will find,

The real thing behind the screen.
