Faculty of Engineering Acknowledges Faculty Members, Support Staff, and Students

UST Faculty of Engineering commended and acknowledged the first semester’s dean’s listers and the excellent contributions of the faculty members and support staff on its second Virtual Recognition day via Youtube Live on March 1, 2022.

The event started with the opening remarks of the Faculty of Engineering Dean, Prof. Angelo R. dela Cruz, Ph.D., congratulating everyone for the efforts they have accomplished during the first semester.

“We should not be driven to learn just for recognition or awards, but we should be motivated because of our passion to learn,” he stated.

It was shortly followed by the deliberation of awards to those who qualified the Dean’s list for the first term of A.Y. 2021-2022, from the first up to the fourth-year students of the six engineering departments.

To qualify for the Dean's list, a student must have a GWA of at least 1.75 with no failing marks or incomplete (INC) in their courses.

Afterward, service awards were given to the academic staff who served for 10 years onwards. Asst. Prof. Albert T. Acosta from the ECE Department, and Prof. Lola Domnina B. Pestano from the ChE Department, led the academic staff as they were honored for their 40 years of service in the faculty.

Support staff service awardees, together with the number of years they have served the faculty, are the following: Jennifer C. Del Rosario, Geronimo M. Ponce Jr., and Elmer M. Villafuerte, who served for 15 years; Landro C. Labanda and Danilo S. Pareño, 25 years; Conrado L. Halili and Rizalindo S. Tuazon, 40 years.

The service awards for the tenured faculty members who received the highest faculty evaluation by students was the next ceremony for the event, wherein Asst. Prof. Anthony James C. Bautista ranked first. Joining Asst. Prof. Bautista in the list are the following ranked from twentieth to second place, respectively: Asst. Prof. Charmina Lou C. Bautista, Engr. Jeffrey G. Mercado, Dr. Divine Angela G. Sumalinog, Assoc. Prof Carlos Ignacio P. Lugay Jr., Asst. Prof. Lorico D. Lapitan Jr., Asst. Prof. Kanny Krizzy D. Serrano, Asst. Prof. Armando V. Barretto, Engr. Jhulimar C. Castro, Assoc. Prof. Joycelyn P. Poblete, Asst. Prof. Edison A. Roxas, Dr. Cristina E. Tianco, Engr. Rocel A. Pioquinto, Engr. Josyl Mariela R. Reyes, Asst. Prof. Dolores S. Cleofas, Assoc. Prof. Michael Francis D. Benjamin, Asst. Prof. Amante R. Garcia, Asst. Prof. Ma. Victoria C. Viray, Engr. Noel S. Sabarillo, and Asst. Prof. Nelson M. Pasamonte.

Engr. Neil Kendrick L. Sy led the 20 non-tenured faculty members who received the highest faculty evaluation by students. Other faculty members in the list are the following ranked from twentieth to second place, respectively: Engr. Ivan Jeff C. Soberano, Engr. John Enoch T. Grajeda, Engr. Mariz A. Chua, Engr. Florendo A. Navarro, Engr. Eyen James D. Ledesma, Engr. Robert G. De Luna, Engr. Maria Joriza C. Bondoc, Engr. Kevin G. Tolentino, Engr. Rolando J. Paulino III, Engr. Rene C. Mendoza, Engr. Joshua B. Ancheta, Engr. Reymond D. Serafica, Engr. Ken Gabriel S. Fernandez, Engr. Yoshiki B. Kurata, Engr. Charlon Adrian C. Ruiz, Engr. Ariel A. Salvador Jr., Engr. Aldrin Lorrenz A. Chan, Engr. Enrique C. Bautista III, and Engr. Jesselyn B. Alcain.

The closing remarks from the Faculty of Engineering’s Assistant Dean, Asst. Prof. Anthony James C. Bautista, concluded the event.
