The Department of Civil Engineering’s Team C-35 received the Certificate of Earthquake Resistant Structure and placed 21st out of 49 international teams in the recently concluded Introducing and Demonstrating Earthquake Engineering Research in Schools (IDEERS) 2018 last September 14 to 15, 2018.
UST-CE students, namely, Benedict Lualhati, Stacey Henry Nuqui, Jayvee Tungol, and Rei Gene Villarosa, under the supervision of Engr. Ryan Ramirez, represented the university in the said competition in Taiwan.
The team garnered 87.6454 efficiency ratio and passed the stimulated earthquake with a peak ground acceleration (PGA) of 800 gals during the last round.
IDEERS is a competition that promotes earthquake engineering and challenges students to design and create small-scale models of buildings that can withstand strong stimulated earthquakes.
