While, two teams were able to snatch an award in the ‘EGREGIUS: Bridge Building Competition’ held at University of the East - Caloocan last August 25. Espana-based team Enrico Luis, Abcede, Jescelle Clavo, Jett Nacario, Jayvee Tungol and Rei Gene Villarosa, were hailed champions. Followed by Angelica Dimalanta, Giselle Domantay, Alyssa Domingo, Darlene Labuene and Angelyn Padre from Technological Institute of the Philippines-Quezon City. Nicole Anne Acosta, Aldwin Ivan Ampania, Rhonor Rae Arasula, Jugielyn Gracia and John Victor Lopez also from UST placed 2nd Runner-up.

Despite winning the said competition, the teams also encountered major setbacks. “On-the-spot kasi lahat binigay yung mechanics kaya doon nalang rin kami nakapag-finalize ng plan as a group.” said Rei Villarosa in an exclusive interview with Thomasian Engineer. Both teams acknowledged the impromptu decision-making as one of the challenges but were still able to overcome it.

When asked about their inspiration in joining the competition, “We were just inspired to do and achieve greater things aside from academics,” Acosta said. “[...] Siguro nag-motivate talaga sa amin to give our best during the competition was the fact that we're representing the CE Department of UST,” Villarosa added.
